Gently he asked, "What is your moniker?"

"Moniker?" She questioned.

"Name," he corrected, again leaving her with a question in her face.

He smiled kindly at her, after a moment of silence he answered himself. "Yes, your name must be something that mirrors you. It's the sound that completes you." He said this looking into her eyes with an intensity that made her stomach flutter.

As he gently lifted her face forward, she felt the remnants of her former self fall away and this change overcame her. Suddenly she was transformed, what was once stone on her became ivory skin, pliable and elastic she stretched out her hand to the stormy sky above, a feeling she had never known before. She felt her face contort into what would be her first smile, he watched her intently as she changed and a small smile upturned his lips at the curiosity before him. He watched her react to everything he imagined she - a being that was so plagued with nothingness - should need. With each thought suddenly anything he imagined would please her, appeared before her. Around her soft hues of color appeared on her bodice in a beautiful ensemble that covered her nakedness.

As he watched her taking in the new world amidst her he again asked gently "your name?" but the question was futile for he knew what she had yet to speak. The truth before him was that she was as nameless, as she was alone.

"I don't know," she said sadly, her eyes averted from his in shame for the first time. Everything she did was for the first time.

He stepped closer and smiled at her from ear to ear, eyes shining gently he answered as though he had known all the while, "No matter now! for your name is Iris and you will be the Iris of my eyes. I give you this gift that is mine in exchange for your willingness to give me all that is yours, you will see the world through my vision and I will see through yours, my Iris. You who once had nothing, i will give everything."

Iris stood still, an irony because his words made her feel so moved. A tickle touched her nose, and a teardrop kissed her eye, though she knew not what it was.

"And your name, as you called it?" she spoke to him softly reaching for his face tenderly, as he had done so to hers.

He laughed looking over her at the world that now began to bloom with her life. "I have been called many names, in many places. Yet none felt like they belonged to me, my oddities call me the Ringmaster, so that is what I am."

She shook her head and gestured around them at a world now overflowing with color. "But that is not all you are, is it?" She could now see in a vibrancy that she had never before known. And simultaneously, unbeknownst to her, he could no longer see it because when he gave her his vision he truly gave it to her and took her own. He watched her unanswering for the only color he could see was in her, for a long moment they stood still as the world around her grew in vibrancy. Around them swirled colors she had never known and would know evermore, and colors he had always known but would now only know through her.

He watched her, he didn't need to speak to her, the connection was so strong you could touch it, it sat between them vibrating vividly. She felt his essence, a gentle current of air, and a word formed in her mind, as soft as a whisper on the wind. "Zypher," she thought. A name of magic, of movement, of a journey just beginning.

He heard it. "This is my name?"

She nodded. "You have breathed life into me, and given me a name. Can I not do the same for you? But only if you will allow it."

He smiled, accepting her, then hand in hand they walked up the rolling hills, off to explore the world throughout the eyes of Iris. A kind presence had entered her world, a figure of impossible wonder. The Rainbow Man, the Ringmaster, Zypher stood before her, his form waged a formidable war of color against what once was her muted lifeless reality, and with him she was alive.
